Coronavirus – appeal for help

We bring news of initiatives taken by the Social Services Department of the China Christian Council & TSPM in concert with the Amity Foundation to seek to assist in the containment of the coronavirus.

CCC has been working with Amity Foundation to purchase and transport medical protection supplies for Wuhan and other parts of Hubei province.   China’s National Health Commission said a total of 7,711 cases of novel corona virus and 170 deaths were confirmed in the Chinese mainland as of 24:00 on Wednesday. More than 100 cases have been confirmed in 14 provinces. A total of 4,586 cases have been reported in Hubei, while Zhejiang has become the second worst-hit area outside Hubei, with 428 cases confirmed. Guangdong (311 cases), Henan, Hunan, Anhui, Chongqing, Jiangxi, Shandong, Sichuan, Jiangsu, Beijing, Shanghai and Fujian (101 cases) followed.

As the number of the infected and deaths continues to grow, millions of masks and protective suits are needed in Wuhan and cities across the country. Although most mask manufacturers in China have been working around the clock, the hospitals and residents at home still cannot get enough masks.   In addition to Hubei Province, many hospitals in Zhejiang, Hunan, Jiangsu and Shandong are in short supply of protective supplies and have issued public notices to accept social donations. The protective supplies include:   Medical protective clothing, N95 mask, medical surgical mask, protective mask, positive pressure isolation clothing, prospective goggles, disinfectant…   CCC and Amity are paying much attention to the epidemic and call for all helping hands to support those who are in need now. Please pray for Hubei, pray for China!

If you would like to contribute to a donation by the Friends of the Church in China to the China Christian Council to support the purchase of protective equipment please donate through our website here (adding reference “medical supplies”)
